Self-Compassion, what is it?

Self-Compassion, is treating yourself as you would treat a friend. It sounds super easy, but is it? For those of us who punish ourselves for not getting through life perfectly, how we treat friends may look superior to how we treat ourselves. So, to show self-compassion we stick to three basic tenets. One, treating ourselves to compassion instead of judgment. Two, recognizing that as human beings we make mistakes, all of us, so surely others have experienced those same “missteps”. Three, our identity is not our mistakes, we do not need to dwell on them.
